| On the eastern side of Kathmandu is Boudhnath stupa, one of the world's largest. It is believed that the current stupa, built on the site of an older stupa, was built after the depredation of the Mughal invaders in the 14th century. Stupas were originally built to house holy relics but it is uncertain if there is anything interred at Boudhnath. |
