It's Durbar Square, the heart of town, is a concentrated mass of temples, mostly in the Newari architecture style, and the Royal Palace of Patan on one side. The square rose to its full glory during the Malla period (14th to 18th centuries), and particularly during the reign of King Siddhinarsingh Malla (1619-60).
