Moraine Lake is a short drive from Lake Louise and is still part of the same area. Lake Moraine is arguably the most beautiful of all the park's lakes (Peyto lake will provide stiff competition) with its deep blue color that sometimes looks unreal.

Since this was a truncated day with the evening flight from Calgary and the 2 hour drive back scheduled for the afternoon, we decided on the short Consolation Lakes trail that starts off Moraine Lake. We saw notices at the trailhead that Group Access was in effect due to recent bear activity in the area. The law required us to travel in a tight group of 6 or more. We waited a few minutes for some people to show up and joined them.
