The longest day of the trip after a beautiful morning drive from Columbia Icefield to Lake Louise. Bow Lake was an irresistible photo opportunity with a totally still water surface reflecting perfectly. .At Lake Louise, we combined the two trails (Lake Agnes-Little Beehive with the Plain of the Six Glaciers Trail) to form a loop of 12.6 miles in length with several ups and downs. The Lake Agnes trail offers a pair of lakes (Mirror Lake and Agnes Lake) and a lookout point at Little Beehive followed by another lookout point on Beehive mountain. Then it comes back down to link up with the Plain of Six Glaciers trail which takes one all the way up towards Victoria Glacier offering the hardy hiker a view of Abbot Pass Hut and the section of steep ice known as the Death Trap at the terminus of the trail. The round trip is completed by returning back along the lake shore to the starting point. http://www.onedayhikes.com/Hikes.asp?Hikesid=137 http://www.onedayhikes.com/Hikes.asp?HikesID=134 |
